Firefox 3.5 browser released
By admin on Jul 4, 2009 in Internet, Software
Few days ago Mozilla released the latest update to its popular and free Firefox browser – version 3.5. It’s supposed to be the fastest version yet and it includes several new additions and performance enhancements.
Some of the new features include:
- Improved performance - thanks to the powerful new TraceMonkey JavaScript engine.
- A new Private Browsing mode – designed to protect your privacy online and provide greater control over your personal data.
- Native support for open video and audio - integration of audio and video directly into the browser. No need for plugins.
- Location Aware Browsing – by telling websites where you are located, you can easily find nearby points of interest and useful data like maps of your area. This is optional – Firefox doesn’t share your location without your permission.
Firefox 3.5 is twice as fast as the previous version and 10 times faster than the old Firefox 2. According to W3schools Web site, Firefox is now the most popular browser on the Net, with almost half of global Internet surfers choosing this browser over its competitors.
I installed the new version yesterday and I haven’t been disappointed. It is indeed faster than the previous version, but I’m not so sure it is faster than its competitors. I found an interesting article at Freewaremission, where the writer compared the speed and resource usage to Google Chrome, with interesting results.
Mozilla Firefox 3.5 is available now for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X operating systems and in over 70 languages. For more information on the new Firefox browser, please visit this Mozilla Web page. For the download location, you can visit www.getfirefox.com.
