What is your favorite search engine?

With the introduction of Ecosia, we have more choice in the search department. It’s too early to tell whether it can rival the Big Three (Google, Yahoo and Bing) but one thing that makes it stand out is that it’s created to save the environment. 80% of Ecosia’s profits go to World Wildlife Fund to save rainforests.

When I first started to surf the Internet in 1998, I used Infoseek for Web search. I don’t even know if it exists any more. But as soon as Google became available, I switched to the now familiar search engine. I don’t remember when I first heard of it or how I came to use it, but it’s definitely the one I use most frequently.

Althought there is nothing wrong with Yahoo and Bing, I just ignore them. I became familiar with Google and now it’s just convenient and fast. When I look for something, I just type Google.com and there it is: simple Web site with a text field - a door to so many possibilities and answers (plus images, videos, etc).

I want to try and use Ecosia to see if it’s any good, but I’m so used to Google that I automatically type in Google.com instead of Ecosia.org :)

So, my question to the readers is, what is YOUR favorite search engine and WHY?

  4. I think it’s obvious that Google is the most popular search engine - and not only that - it’s probably the best. There is a similar poll today at cnn.com and 85% of the people who participated use Google!
