Best Windows 7 features
By admin on Jan 28, 2010 in Windows 7
Now that Windows 7 is out, you must have seen and/or tested it yourself. So how do you like it? It’s definitely an improvement after Windows Vista, right? I think Windows 7 is great, but I haven’t fully tested it yet. I need more time with it and a new PC, because my old P4 has (almost) died. It’s time for an upgrade.
I recently found an interesting article at the PC Authority Web site, which lists 30 best features of Windows 7. I don’t want to list all 30, as you may not need them all, but here are some of my favorites.
Top 10 Windows 7 features:
- No need for a new PC – you don’t need to buy a brand new PC for Windows 7. It has been designed to work well with older PCs (even the ones that couldn’t handle Windows Vista).
- Big screen support – now it’s easier to set up multiple displays and there are many more zoom options for big screens (30″ for example).
- Nag free system tray – Windows Vista used to show too many pop-up warning messages. In Windows 7, they are concealed into Windows Solutions center - the small lighthouse icon -and you see them only when you click on the icon.
- User Access Control (UAT) Silencer – this was incredibly annoying in Windows Vista. Windows 7 deals with this problem. You can easily select when and if the security feature should show up.
- Start button search - the Start search is quicker and more intelligent – just type in a keyword and find Windows features, files, applications and control panel tasks.
- Redesigned taskbar and jumplists – includes big menu icons and shortcuts for easier access. “Borrowed” from Apple
. - Homegroup – makes it easier to create home networks and share printer, documents and media files.
- iTunes support in Windows Media player – who doesn’t use iTunes today?
- One click WiFi – now you can find wireless networks wih one click, whereas in Windows Vista and XP it was slightly more complicated.
- Faster IE8 – Internet Explorer 8 works faster in Windows 7.
