The new Webby award winners
By admin on May 7, 2010 in Internet
The 14th annual Webby Awards, or Webbys, were just announced by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.
The Academy has 550 members, all of whom are experts in the Web business, and every year they vote for best achievements on the Internet across several categories.
This year, Roger Ebert was chosen as person of the year by the Webby Awards for his achievements in online journalism with his blog, Roger Ebert’s Journal, on the Chicago Sun-Times’ Web site. This is special also because of Roger’s recent health problems – he has lost the ability to speak after cancer surgery. Luckily for him, he is able to continue his work without his voice, and Internet certainly helps here.
Other winners include:
- Vinton Cerf, as the honoree for lifetime achievement. Vinton is one of the Internet’s founders who pioneered its communications technology at Stanford University.
