You may have noticed that I’m slow in publishing new posts. That’s because of the Soccer/Football World Cup. It’s not easy finding time to write new blog posts when you have to work 8 hours a day and also watch 3 games a day (or night).

This is one of the biggest sporting events in the world, and some people find it more interesting and more important than the Olympic games! It has a rich history and the game is quite entertaining if you don’t mind watching a low scoring game. It’s as much about skill and attractive play as scoring. Soccer, as it’s called in some parts of the world, is not very popular in USA and Australia, but I’m sure it’s still watched by hundreds of thousands of fans there.

It is true that some games can be boring, but sometimes two teams that want to win so badly concentrate more on defending their own goal, than on scoring. But usually, it’s a big spectacle with many goals, spectacular plays and many surprises. One thing is almost certain though – one of the big nations will win: Argentina, Spain, Italy, Germany, Holland or Brazil.

Rugby, baseball and NFL fans will most certainly stay away from FIFA World Cup. For everyone else, it’s the best time of the year. Games every day, for a whole month! We waited 4 years for this…
