I found a great post about error type 404 at the PC GIST blog. The writer, who is an IT professional, lists varios 404 errors and reasons why they appear as well as possible solutions.

I’m sure we’ve all seen this at some point, especially when we try to access some Web page and instead of the expected page, we see this white screen and a familiar error type 404 message. It usually says The page cannot be found or Error 404: Not Found.

This is a http status code and it means that the requested Web site is not available. This could mean the site is down on the hosted server or something’s wrong with your Internet connection.
