High speed Internet access in Canada
By admin on Aug 3, 2010 in Internet
This is something for my Canadian readers: We all know that Canada is 2nd largest country in the world (behind Russia) and that a large amount of Canadians live near the coast line and the borders. Therefore, most of the infrastructure is based in these places. However, there are also rural areas, where it’s hard to get Internet access. Big cities have it all, including fast Internet, but a large part of the north is isolated. In those areas, people don’t even have phone lines, let alone high speed Internet. So, what do those people do?
I attempted to list the best Internet service providers in Canada, even those that offer services in rural areas. These are mostly satellite Internet service providers.
Here are some that I found:
- Cogeco – Famous Canadian Internet provider
- Bell – One of the biggest, but are they the best? Some customers do disagree…
- Shaw – One of the more popular providers
- Canada on line – From $35 per month, with special offers
- B2b2C - “The alternative to the network giants”
- Rogers – One of the biggest and best service providers
- ACN – Has some great residential broadband deals
- Storm – Prices start from $32 per month
- Galaxy Broadband - Satellite Internet, available virtually anywhere
- Telesat – One of the leaders in satellite communications technology
I did a lot of research on Canadian ISPs, and one of my favorite service is Distributel. It seems to be very reliable and offers decent prices (from $36.95 per month). Most customers are happy with the service and technical support.
If you do know of any others you would like to recommend, please leave a comment.

Another one i can suggest is Electronic Box. You can find their offers for Ontario on this page : http://www.electronicbox.net/en/ontario/residential/index.html
